Motorcycle Ride Information

The RoanMountainRun261.com is a 53 mile there and back motorcycle ride that starts in the Americano restaurant parking lot and heads north towards the center of town; taking a left on Route 261 entering into the Roan Mountain State Park. As you rise in elevation during the ride you are accompanied by the Doe River on your left side of the road. This scenic route climbs into the sky with with many twists and turns showcasing picturesque mountain landscapes that you can see for miles. There are several overlooks on the right side to park and enjoy the views.

The famous Appalachian trail crosses the road route 261 at the top of the Roan Mountain an continues up to the Grassy Ridge Bald. There is a parking lot to stop and hike to the top and it about 1/4 mile where you have a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains.

At the top of Carvers Gap is the Tennessee and North Carolina state line.  The Roan Mountain Run 261 challenges a riders skills through the back half of this ride with its long sweeping curves, multiple winding turns, and rural mountain elevation changes. The end destination on Route 261 takes you to the small Blue Ridge mountain town of Bakersville North Carolina where there is food, gas, and other amenities. The ride then turns back the same way you just came viewing the mountain landscapes from a completely different perspective.
